About

Large print displays involve enlarging text, icons, and interface elements on a computer screen to support individuals with reduced visual acuity. This can be achieved using built-in accessibility settings on most devices, magnification software, or larger monitors with high resolution. These tools make it easier for individuals to read digital content, complete documentation, and navigate digital systems without excessive eye strain.

This accommodation is crucial in reducing visual fatigue and enhancing focus throughout the workday. It supports productivity by minimising errors associated with poor visibility and fosters greater independence for employees who might otherwise require assistance with reading. Large print displays are also helpful in shared workspaces, allowing employees to customise their viewing environment based on personal visual needs.

Costs and Funding

Adjustments can often be made using built-in settings at no cost.

External high-resolution monitors or professional-grade magnification tools can range from $200 to $2,000.

Funding may be available through the NDIS, JobAccess, Disability Employment Services (DES), or as a reasonable adjustment required under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.
