About

Adjustable lighting refers to the ability to modify brightness, colour temperature, and positioning of lights to create a more comfortable and less triggering work environment.

Many individuals with neurological or chronic pain conditions are sensitive to harsh or fluorescent lighting, which can lead to symptoms like headaches, eye strain, fatigue, or pain flares.

By allowing control over lighting conditions, individuals can reduce environmental stressors and improve concentration and comfort.

Costs and Funding

Adjustable lighting solutions range from low-cost options like desk lamps with dimmers, typically priced between $30 and $80, to more advanced setups such as smart lighting systems, which can cost between $100 and $300.

Funding may be available through the Employment Assistance Fund (EAF) for workplace modifications. Individuals on the NDIS may also access funding under Assistive Technology for sensory adjustments to workspaces, including lighting.
