About
Muscular Dystrophy (MD) is a group of genetic disorders that cause muscles to weaken over time. This leads to difficulty in moving, walking, breathing, and performing daily tasks.
This condition is often invisible.
Many disabilities, including this one, may not have outward signs—people can be significantly impacted even if they appear “fine” on the outside.

Notes
Muscular Dystrophy varies in severity, and its impact on work ability depends on the specific type and progression of the disease. With the right support and accommodations, individuals with MD can lead fulfilling careers.
Awareness days are set for two kinds of MD: Duchenne and limb-girdle.
Sept. 7 is World Duchenne Awareness Day,
Sept. 30 is Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Day.
